Sheffield Vulcans vs Newcastle Ravens

Date: 11th January 2020
Location: Sheffield Tigers RUFC, Sheffield

The Vulcans welcomed the Ravens to a cold and windy Dore Moor, as we were hosted for the second time by Sheffield Tigers.

Sheffield Vulcans VS Chester Centurions

Date: Saturday 27th January 2018
Location: Manchester Enterprise Academy

The Sheffield Vulcans took to the pitch against the Chester Centurions on Saturday a for superb 80 minutes between the two new clubs. Since launching in August 2017, this was the second Inclusive Gay Rugby match for the team and several Vulcans took to the pitch for the first time.

The game wall full of energy from start to finish and right from the off saw some amazing contact and communication from players on both sides. Sheffield Vulcans took an early lead with a try from Patrick Hignell who continued to shine with his tackling throughout the game.

Other Vulcan tries were scored by Scott Mackay, Michael Hudson, Julio Jimenez , Rex Li, and Jack Semmence. Centurions kept the Vulcans on their toes by scoring 3 tries themselves. Speed was the Vulcans’ weapon of choice and the game showcased the hard work of both teams on passing, scrums, tackles and more.

After a few failed conversions, Michael Hudson hit his stride as a first time kicker and converted 4 tries, taking the final score to 68-15 to the Sheffield Vulcans.

Both teams freshened up and retired to the Sale Rugby Club where they relaxed with some food and a well earned pint and got to know each other better. Joined by some of the Manchester Spartans and some of the Northampton Outlaws, the IGR family grew even stronger.

Sheffield Vulcans Man of the Match was shared by Jack Semmence for his full length pitch runs and Scott Mackay for his battering ram like tackles.

Huge thank you to all those who came to support both teams and a big pat on the back for all the players. A fantastic game for two fledgling teams!
