Sheffield Vulcans – Give Rugby a ‘Try’ – Autumn Welcome Week

Join the Sheffield Vulcans for our second ‘Give Rugby a Try’ Welcome Week of 2018! Come and get involved with Sheffield’s only Inclusive Rugby team for 3 taster sessions and a social.

Inclusive Rugby means that whether you are gay/straight, big/small, young/old, an experienced rugby player or never picked up a ball, we want to see you get involved and join the Sheffield Vulcans.

Tuesday 30th October – The Vulcans will be at Endcliffe Park at 7pm for our usual weekly training session. Wear something sporty (boots optional) and join in as we go back to the basics of Rugby and welcome our new members. It’s the day before Halloween but don’t be scared, Rugby is fun!

Thursday 1st November – Meeting at 7pm again at Endcliffe Park, join the Vulcans as we lead another taster session. Don’t worry we won’t make you do what we wouldn’t want to! First of the month is a perfect time for your first Vulcans session.

Saturday 3rd November – We’ll be making use of some natural light with a training session at 11am at our usual home of Endcliffe Park then heading to a local pub to watch the England VS South Africa match at 3pm before a night out in Sheffield City Centre at some of our wonderful nightlife sponsors.

You don’t have to be available for ALL the activities, but if you’re free we’d love to see you at at least one!

Vulcans get full IGR membership!

Sheffield Vulcans are THRILLED to announce that we have been granted full membership to International Gay Rugby.

Since launching in August 2017, the Vulcans have had a superb first season as a club and recruited nearly 20 regular players. Working with coach Andrea Dobson and taking advice from other IGR clubs across the UK, the team have enjoyed weekly training sessions, insane socials and nights out, and the chance to bare all in a naked photoshoot to raise money for Balls to Cancer.

The criteria met for full IGR membership are:

    • Be a primarily gay and / or lesbian identifying rugby club;
    • Support the aims and objectives of IGR;
    • Have a formalised governance structure with constitution and elected officers and have statements related to tolerance and inclusion in their club mission statement;
    • Be registered with their National and Local Rugby unions;
    • Have played at least 3 15s rugby matches in their current or most recent rugby season.

We have met all these measures and we cannot wait to continue our experiences with the IGR.

Sheffield Vulcans Debut New Kit

The Sheffield Vulcans are proud to officially reveal images of our brand new kit, provided by SRG Elite.

Just at the end of the Vulcan’s maiden season, the kit arrived and will be donned by members of the club showcasing the official colours of black, red, and flame logo.

To really show off the new strip, the Sheffield Vulcans took to the streets and landmarks of Sheffield in a photoshoot with our latest sponsor Heather Isobel Photography.

Take a look at some of our favourite photos from the shoot and keep an eye out over the summer and next season for the kit to be in use on the field.

Let us know what you think of our kit using #SheffVulcans and keep an eye out for more photos across our facebook, twitter, and instagram.
